Common Patient Inquires

Are my therapy assessments and sessions covered by MSI?

While psychological counselling is not covered under MSI, many private insurance plans do partially or even fully cover the costs of our services. This includes Employee Assistance Programs, government agencies (Workers’ Compensation, Veterans Affairs, etc.) and extended health care packages, such as Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife and others.

Our fee structure is as follows:

Individual sessions - $185

Couples - $185

Families - $185

An estimate for a psycho-educational assessment is typically quoted at approximately $2,000.

What if I miss an appointment?

We kindly request that you provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice if you wish to change or cancel your appointment. That way, we can try and see another patient during that time slot and it ensures we provide all of our patients with prompt and convenient service.

Please note that a fee will be charged if sufficient notice is not given, barring extreme circumstances. A phone call is appreciated in any case. Also keep in mind that most insurance companies will not compensate for missed appointments.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your initial consultation will give you a chance to meet with your psychologist and go over your paperwork as well as address any questions you may have. It’s also the time we will establish the issues you are currently facing in order to formulate a potential diagnosis, subsequent treatment plan, and expected outcome.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out any necessary forms. For patients under 18 years of age, we ask that a parent or guardian attend the first meeting.
